After my Bachelor in Soil, Water, Atmosphere, I continued my study with a Master of Science programme called Climate Studies. My BSc was quite broadly orientated with, besides the courses in my major in soil science, also courses in for example ecology and meteorology. This proved to be useful in my MSc, since earth system scientists are interested in the functioning of the earth as a whole and need to have interdisciplinary knowledge. That’s what I prefer above studying details and thereby missing the big picture.

Now I’m preparing for my internship about the effects of Amazonian deforestation on the local climate and that of the rest of the world. Therefore I will go to Brazil, which gives me a nice chance to see the phenomenon I’m studying with my own eyes. Ideally, I would like to do fundamental science, which can be used in practice too.
